Re: The Community Garden :)
Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone knows what type of plant this flower belongs to.
There are 3 of them here

Re: The Community Garden :)
That is a belladonna lily, also called a 'naked lady' as it flowers before the leaves emerge.
Botanical name is Amaryllis Belladonna

Re: The Community Garden :)
Hi @Former-Member Giant Victoria Lillies don't sink.
The leaves have air-pockets in them (I think), very buoyant & floaty.
So yes, maybe they form mini swimming pools, when it rains heavily.
Hey @Former-Member It's a fair bet it's those fishies nibbling the shoots - @Shaz51 backed us up on that idea.
Or secondly, some sneaky Birds (as you suggested).
So no, you probably don't need a surveillance camera.
The tricky bit is how (if possible) to stop them Nibbling....

Re: The Community Garden :)
Very unseasonal (& very rare) Rain, yesterday afternoon & today @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member
It actually pooled on the ground (water-repellent sands), quite a sight to see.
My garden plants will like it (maybe green up a bit).
My birds loved it - the canaries all hung on the aviary wire, having a shower while it rained.

Re: The Community Garden :)
Yes it is definitely amazing @Former-Member I have seen them in person.
In Australian Botanical Gardens (Greenhouses) - not in their natural habitat.
