Re: The Community Garden :)

Hey @Adge @Former-Member @greenpea @Shaz51 that is so awesome that giant lily pad. Wonder what happens when it rains? Maybe they sink down some from the weight or is it like a mini swimming pool happening there...

Ah yeah... Guess the lily pads do not sink then 🙂

Re: The Community Garden :)

Hey @Former-Member have you found out the answer to the munched on lily leaves? It wouldn't be snails would it.

Re: The Community Garden :)

Thanks for that info @Lonelyhart  ... as there are currently no leaves left I will have to wait for more to grow before I can observe further.  I think I need a 24-hour monitor camera to see whats eating my waterlily.  😁

Hi @Adge

No @Former-Member  I am yet to discover the culprit munchkin that is eating my lily leaves.  Snails or slugs would do it, but there is not sign at all of snails.  Its something I looked at early on in the piece.  And also some bugs which may live underneath the leaves.  But there has never been any evidence of that.

Just have to wait .. and hope more leaves grow so I can further investigate whats happening to them.

My roses are blooming beautifully right now ... quite stunning show of colour.  And my big magnolia tree is also blooming again after losing so many leaves during the drought.  So many leaves had all shrivelled up and dropped off.  And its not a deciduous tree, its an evergreen.  But I am happy to say that it has survived the big dry.  So good.  We also have a lovely franjipani which is flowering nicely too.  So much colour in our garden right now. Azaleas were beautiful a few weeks ago, but just about finished flowering now.  We have quite a few of them.

And of course ... the weeds!  Urgh ... after all the rain ... they are springing up everywhere. Strong and healthy.

Hey everyone ... its nearly autumn.  Summer heat is nearly over. Yippee 😎  @CheerBear @outlander @Shaz51

Re: The Community Garden :)

Ah rabbits....? and look what I came across:

"we have had a bad drought and a dagone rabbit has been eating the lily pads. anyone else had this problem.
does not touch any other plants ,and is only able to get the pads closet to the rim. i dont have the heart to fence him out.its been really dry here"

Hope you find the munchkin @Former-Member. And I like mysteries

Re: The Community Garden :)

Hmmm interesting @Former-Member  😏

Yes we do have rabbits around here. However the waterlily is in the centre of the pond, not the edge. And for it to be a rabbit munchkin it would need to be a swimming one.
