Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness
A busy day tomorrow @Shaz51 Yes me too, although a bit less than most Mondays.
I am very very tired, I have been all weekend.
I did do my yoga class yesterday, & 2 necessary shopping trips - not much else.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness
Thanks @Shaz51 I don't want to miss my yoga classes, even when I'm feeling terrible.
I have to go shopping, or else there's nothing to eat etc.
I got a shock a few days ago, when I phoned the hospital - because they never sent the appointment letter they promised.
They told me that I have been put onto the "low-priority" (category 3) list - because my GP did not write the seriousness (or urgency) of the hernias on the Referral Form (they said).
I cannot wait over 12 months for surgery, as they said I would have to - the GP said weeks ago that I would have to go to emergency (if it got worse).
Yet I don't know how to be considered for "high priority".
I asked the Dr's Rececption to send my Surgery Reports (3 Bowel surgeries) to the hospital.
I don't know if that will make any difference.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness
@Adge, I almost don't like passing on this advice because it sounds desperate... but....
I knew someone who was waiting for abdominal surgery, and often in considerable pain. She was on the waiting list, so she set her teeth, took painkillers and waited it out. She found out later that if she had fronted up to the emergency department when the pain was severe, it would have bumped her up on the waiting list. Instead, she ended up becoming resistant to the painkillers from taking them for so long, and now they're less effective on her than they would have been.
So, if you're having a bad pain day, turn up at ED and let them know. Squeaky wheels and all that. It shouldn't be that way, but if you need help, you need help.
