Re: Battles

@Dreamy

That's why it's my job to give you little reminders of what the better stuff feels like.

Re: Battles

@tyme sorry, that whole recovery focused is the furthest thing from my mind right now. Right now it's about survival and trying to find a way through this if that's at all possible. I guess for now it's just staying connected. I'm sorry I can't really give much for as to what I need right now cos I don't even know myself.

Re: Battles

@MJG017 i reckon I gotta go through my calendar tomorrow and find some jokes to make us both laugh or at least crack a little smile. I haven't read them for over a month so have a bit of catching up to do.

I am grateful for my dog who is so excited to see me every morning when I wake up. She sleeps on my bed with me, but showers me in licks and love as soon as my eyes open.

I am grateful for the wood heater in my house. I love wood heating. It's so warm and cosy when it's cold out.

I'm grateful to have found the forums and SANE and the people here.

I'm grateful for my niece and her beautiful laugh and smile. She adds a little light and shiny to my day.

I am grateful for soft, cosy, cuddly PJ's that add a level of comfort and warmth to my nights.

I am grateful for dramatic audio books. I love to read, to explore fantasy worlds. I haven't had the brain power recently, but I listen to dramatic audio books while I drive and they are amazing.

Hey @MissinTooth , I'm still catching up on posts since returning. I LOVED reading your list of gratitudes.

I know what you mean by your dog being excited to see you every morning! When I was away, I missed Ruby, my niece's dog, so much. I walk her everyday so when I was away, I missed her terribly. When I got home, she saw me and was sooooo exicted!

Also, those audiobooks sound only too amazing! I really want to get more into audiobooks but I have a hard time choosing between audiobooks and the radio.

As for your wood heater, do you every get the chimney cleaned?

Hey @tyme

I am grateful to live so close to nature.

I am grateful to wake up to birdsong esp the magpies.

I am grateful to be able to hear the wind in the trees and the gurgling of the creek after it rains

I am grateful to feel the sun on my skin

I am grateful to smell the eucalyptus

I am grateful to see all the birds, water dragons, blue tongue lizards, other lizards, possums, butterflies, dragonflies, bees, wasps and beetles in my garden

I am grateful to taste the berries, tomatoes, capsicums and herbs from my garden

I am so lucky to be able to experience this every day. I am aware that some people cannot and many others don’t take the time. I am lucky I can and I do.

@Till23 , I can relate to so much of what you are have shared.

At this moment, I'd LOVE to feel the sun on my skin!

Also, what's a 'water dragon'?

And, I totally know what you mean by tasting fresh produce from your garden! It tastes NOTHING like most of the shops. A garden tomato tastes like a REAL tomato!

So good to see you @Till23

Re: Battles

Hi @tyme a water dragon is a reptile. It's a lizard that lives near water and swim in creeks etc

I wrote the list because I lost my dog, who I put down due to old age and illnesses and the list did make me happier for a short while

Re: Battles

@tyme I loved writing them to be honest, it was a positive way to start the day. It felt like such a stark contrast between yesterday and today's start to the morning.

I have no idea why she's so excited to see me every morning, but I love being greeted by a cold wet nose and slobbery kisses. She says on, licks my face and makes little noise. It's adorable. Dogs are certainly special and make a huge impact in our lives.

I don't listen to music or the radio when I drive, I find it too...overstimulated...too noisey. And perhaps a little weirdly, I love being read to.

Umm...as for my chimney...I think you're supposed to get them cleaned out. I don't know when this one was done. I've only been here in this house for about three weeks.

@Dreamy

I think we could both do with some laughs right now so bring those jokes on!  It will give us both something to look forward to tomorrow.

Re: Battles

@MJG017 yes I think we could. I haven't changed the date since the 18th April so we have a few to catch up on and there's 3-4 a day.

Re: Battles

This sounds so overwhelming for you @Dreamy... it can feel so all-consuming when we are triggered, can't it? I truly understand how unignorable it can be... it's okay that you are finding self-care hard right now. Let this be your reminder to take things moment to moment tonight. How is little Casper?
