Something’s not right

when is it time for hospital

Re: when is it time for hospital

That is really confusing @outlander. Is there a reason why she thinks you don't need to go now especially when she thinks you are getting worst? It is kind of odd and contradictory.

Re: when is it time for hospital

I was just about to ask the same question as @Anony18, @outlander.

Something that's standing out to me is that it seems that you know some time out would be a good thing. The break place I was at was usually for a 4 week stay too, though being a voluntary admission there's nothing stopping anyone from leaving before then. I'm wondering whether you can therefore leave after a week or so, or whether you're able to get some leave to break the stay up? Also, once you're there if you tell your mum it's only a week, you may find you or her come around to the possibility of a longer stay. You could get there and see that everything is actually still continuing ok at home (as far as your responsibilities go) and that may ease the worry for you and open up space to stay longer. Just some ideas

Re: when is it time for hospital

I dont really know @Anony18 @CheerBear
She said maybe give the medications a chance to work and as u know most dont work within the few first week or so. Other than that no not a clue. She was akso telling me to hold off abit on the sa counselling to get my mental state abit more stable and now im worse and she said that i should go for it.
She got abit snappy when i said i wasnt given a prescription from my psych for my meds and she had to write it out. And when i said my psych said she would like me to come here twice a werk she was quick to say that was too excessive

Re: when is it time for hospital

@outlander do some research to see what the side effects and pros of the meds you are on. It may be right that it takes a while for them to work. Saying that it is really odd that she has told you off and being grumpy at you when you are just doing what the psych told you. If she disagrees she should really explain why to you in a nice manner so you can understand her justification. In terms of the retreat, I don't know about it but if what @CheerBear is saying is correct, what about going to the retreat for just a week as a compromise. It will help your mental health and also won't be away too long from your responsibilities at home. Is that a possibility?

Re: when is it time for hospital

Do you know much about discontinuation syndrome @outlander? There's some research out there that says that suicidal thoughts can increase with an abrupt discontinuation of medications including ADs. I think I felt more sick physically and mentally when I experienced discontinuation syndrome from the atypical AD that I am on, than I did having suspected serotonin syndrome (with the added bonus of an allergic reaction to an SSRI) ages ago. It's maybe why I'm going on about it sorry, but maybe along with giving the new meds a chance to work, holding off on hospital may also allow the side effects of stopping your meds to pass too, and things may improve, even just a little, from there. Sometimes just a little relief from something/s can make a big difference.

It might be a good thing to be able to see a different GP while yours is away too. It could help with another perspective. It's a shame to hear your GP snapped at you today and that the advice you've been given is conflicting and confusing. It doesn't sound at all like what you need when you're struggling.

Re: when is it time for hospital

I'm sorry @outlander, but I'm unable to help you with this. I'm struggling myself. But wanted you to know I hope you can sort it out and get some answers from your treating team and forum members

Re: when is it time for hospital

@Anony18 i know these tablets are going to work straight away they said it can take between 4-6 weeks to even start seeing a difference. I dont really havr anymore info about this retreat. I only heard about it when i seen my psych and she didnt give me a name to research either. As far as im aware i can only go there for the program thing and i have to stay for 4 weeks until it finishes. I dont kniw much else about it .
When i meantioned it to gp she didnt look too pleased.but didnt explain why.

Re: when is it time for hospital

@CheerBear i was told about the seritonin syndrome which is apparently rare and about possible withdrawal syndrome /symptoms but i was having these thoughts before i went off them. Its just getting worse for me now plus the added stress of bullies sick horse and more responsibilities.

So you think maybe holding on hospital will be ok. Sorry if im misunderstanding... correct me if im wrong. Its not your writing its my head.
