The Weekly Friday Feast

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Having to retell our stories over and over can be one of the difficult things about seeking help for ongoing health problems. This is especially the case when what we have to retell is traumatic. Sounds like the psychiatrist is being mindful of the fact that this may bring up difficult thoughts and emotions and that the extra meds might be a good idea temporarily to assist with it. I wonder if you have already started on the higher dose of meds and how many times you have seen the psychiatrist.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

No, I haven't seen the new one but the psychiatrist said he will send me to his colleague and psychologist that works out of the same clinic when needed. In the meantime I am just so tired and I have been increasing medication and I just feel yuk

Hi @Angels333... Fruit salad sounds delightful! You are up late (like me!) I am having a tough time tonight too, but the worst of it is over for tonight. Do you want to talk about what is troubling you?

Namaste,

A

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Yes your insight is exactly what is happening, my psychiatrist has been seeing me for awhile now, but he has only started psychotherapy with me since the middle of January, I'll be seeing him once per week

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

It's so hard to write as the meds really make me soo tired

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

So you are going to see a new psychologist? I have had to retell my story countless times over 13 years in the mental health system - I understand how exhausting it is. Hugs x

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

I hope you"re okay aButterfly

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Angels333, really understand the tired part of depression. Even now that I've started to come out of a very deep and long depression, I nap during the days to deal with emotional exhaustion from new stimulation and extra effort expended. Downside of changing meds dose is that we have to go through some adjustment physically to new med dose. Sometimes it all seems like a difficult cycle with these things, doesn't it? But at least I hope the raised dose may help with the self harm and even lift the depression for you to some extent too (I'm guessing it's an anti-depressant dose you are raising). No worries with your tiredness. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Sometimes it helps even just to have a short chat here.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Thank you - I was extremely unwell earlier, but my nervous system has settled down somewhat... My anxiety levels are still very high & that is why I haven't gone to bed yet...

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Former-Member, so glad you are feeling better than you were before. Sorry the anxiety is still hanging around. Don't worry about your 'rant' earlier, it was very short and not extreme. I too get resentful about spending money I don't have on psychiatrists. Most I have seen have bulk billed (I do advance research on the net and then ring around to find ones who do this). Makes me more cheerful about them in general. That may not have been an option for you where you are though. Sounds like you are much more interested at this point in exploring the psychology options instead anyway. Lots of different approaches to mental health. We all have to find the one that works best for us as individuals. Heart
