Hi @Shaz51
Good to hear you're ok. I wish it was raining here, everything is so dry. Think I'll spend some time on my chair and water the pots. Have a nice day.

Thanks for the invite into the Community Garden earlier @Shaz51 ... some lovely photos there and it all looks very calm and relaxing. I have come in and enjoyed all the lovely flowers and shrubs, along with a bit of quiet time this arvo. Its turned into a lovely mid 20's day here this afternoon after a cool and damp start. And I did spend a bit of time on my back deck for a cuppa overlooking my fishpond. Its amazing how everything has regenerated since the drought, once the rains finally came. Large shrubs and fruit trees I thought were dead, have regenerated with lots of nice green regrowth. Very exciting. But goodness me ... the mosquitoes are sooooo bad. So I bring along with me here, lots of mozzie repellant and swats to try to keep them at bay. Never know what they are carrying ... maybe coronavirus? Plenty for everyone. Or is not everyone affected like we are here? It sometimes feels like every mozzie on the planet has descended into my back yard. Yep maybe I need a big mosquito net as well.
Hello also to other visitors here this afternoon @Imogen @Former-Member @Snowie
@Former-Member ... I cannot answer your question about how to remove a large established Bird of Paradise plant. I have several here, and love them. I believe they are very expensive to buy in the plant nurseries. Maybe you could advertise it for sale, and someone would come in and dig it out for you .. with the reward being a free plant?

Are you an avid gardener?

I don't garden although I would like to. We have bad clay type soil here which is really hard to dig and even with new soil nothing grows properly in our garden but others seem to have nice gardens, sigh.
You? @Former-Member

Thats a shame @Former-Member . You could start with a pot garden perhaps. Either veges, herbs or flowers. Use potting mix, and then you wont need to use the horrible clay dirt you have there. It can be hard to grow things in clay ... I used to live where we had that too. It doesnt drain well when wet and dries out badly when dry. Have reasonable soil where we are now though, but heaps of greedy bugs unfortunately. So a lot of veges get eaten before we get to them. Same with fruit. Lots of fruit trees, but also many many ravenous birds. Happy to share with them, provided they leave us SOMETHING. But there are a lot of plants which do pretty well in clay .. its a matter of choosing horses for courses ... so to speak. Speak to your local plant nursery I would suggest, as they can advise for local conditions.
