Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

Wow, that's a big area to plant, I can see why you went with seeds.

I have always loved Portulacas. When I was little I would spend hours in my garden singing to them, dead heading them and collecting the seeds ( though to what end I don't recall....).

I have a few different garden areas with different themes, but I am currently working on the front yard which I am slowly converting to a cottage style garden. I have blueberry bushes, Daphne, chrysanthemums, daisies, and lots of allyssum and lobelia planted out. Right now it isn't much to look at, but I am taking the longer term view.

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

Hi @chookmojo,

yes i think i spend around $160 on red robins for along the front fence, it would cost way to much for me to plant that many prochalacas down the path, but i may be forced to if these seeds don't grow. Smiley Surprised

i am so glad you like porchalacas, my mother only showed me what they will look like about 2 weeks ago, i have never seen them before that.

my mother just loves chrysanthemums, she has 3 growing out the back, we use them for my fathers and grandparents graves at christmas and mothers day.  the smell is so beautiful, she has white flowered one and 2 purple flowering ones.

Wow a cottage garden, with my OCD everything has to be in order, so i have a very methodical way of planting plants, they all have to match and only 2 colours.

i do love a good cottage garden though, to loook at they are fantastic, the colour the variety, wow.

well i am hoping out of the 2-3,000 seeds i am hoping for at least 1 to grow. i am going to be devistated and humiliated if i have to go to the nursery and buy established ones. Smiley LOL

well have a great sunday night and i hope the next week treats you well.

Last night the kids and I went to an after dark reading hour which was great, kids all went in pj's (and a lot of the adults - but not me lol) and finished with milo and biccies! Kids had a ball!

Today we are having a quiet day which will also be nice!

hmm my favourite plant has to be jasmine, its beautiful scent is so calming!

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

Hi all,

@Former-Member the after dark reading sounds great, i think my local town hall organises one of those too... Im off to see Inside Out this afternoon, I cant wait! ive been told that it will make me cry with sadness then happiness.inside out.jpg

what are others up to today? @Appleblossom @hiddenite there is a little bit of sun here, hopefully your garden is getting some too @chookmojo  @Jacques

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

@Former-Member Yeah the fragrance of Daphne is so incredibly beautiful. Fragrance is a big theme for my front garden, as well as being very ornamental. I have vegies and natives out the back, but the front is pure indulgence.

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

@Fancy_Pants The weather this weekend has been absolutely perfect gardening weather, so I have been puttering about, weeding, tilling and laid out some pavers. The chooks have been keeping me company and loving rummaging through the freshly turned soil and devouring bugs and weeds. Looks like next weekend is going to be pretty good too and I am trying to decidecide whether to get a skip to get rid of a whole lot of rubbish, or to order some mulch before it gets much warmer.

Re: SUNDAY FUNDAY

OMG what a disaster, I think I have killed all 3,000 seeds, not 1 of them is showing yet. Gosh I hope I am not that bad at gardening, I like it so much.

Well today just some gardening and my weekly outing. Mum is trying to get me out of the house once a week.

Hope everyone's Sunday is going well, I am not fond of any plant fragrances because I get hay fever really bad. But if I had to choose it would be roses
